Wat ga je doen?

Have you always dreamed about driving a 18 meter bus throughout Amsterdam? Than this is the vacancy for you! 

We will teach you everything you need to know about driving a bus safely. 

As a bus driver, your responsibilities will include safely transporting passengers to their destinations within designated routes and schedules. You will assist passengers, answer their questions, and ensure their comfort and safety throughout the bus ride. This job is very diverse where you navigate through our beautiful busy capital city. Every day brings something different, with varying work schedules and routes to explore.  

We provide 2 courses: 

• 
  A non-paid course where you'll get your driver's license D with code 95. This course will be in your own time;  
  
• 
  A paid course where you will learn all of the 33 bus lines and tourist attractions in Amsterdam so you can provide the right information to the passengers. This course will be 7 weeks fulltime. 
  

Waar ga je werken?

GVB is the organization for public transport in and around Amsterdam. Every day people travel on a daily base with GVB via tram, bus, metro and on the ferries. Wie ben je?

Your heart skips a beat at the idea that you are in control of a large vehicle. You will drive in both diesel and electric buses. And of course you are service minded and customer-friendly.  

We also ask:  

• Valid European driving license B. 
• Body height is between 1.65 and 2 meters tall. This is necessary to have a good view from the driver's seat and work comfortably; 
• Basic knowledge of Amsterdam. You will learn extensive street knowledge during the training. 
• Good eye vision; (glasses or contact lenses are allowed ) 
• Available for all kinds of shifts 
• A code of conduct (VOG).  

Wat mag je verwachten?

• During the training you will need to be available full-time and you will receive a full salary from day one! In total, you will be paid for 198 hours of training, which equals full-time commitment.  
• Cover of all training costs, including one re-examination. 
• Signing bonus of an €1500,- (under conditions) 
• A good salary of €2,882 gross per month based on 40 hours. This includes an irregularity allowance. Please note that we guarantee 32 hours a week; 
• Ability to work Fulltime or Parttime (8-32 hours) per week. Together we decide what suits you best; 
• Travel allowance if you live outside Amsterdam. This is great if you live in Zaanstad, Haarlem, Purmerend or Amstelveen, for example; 
• Free access to GVB public transport, even when you are not at work; 
• A lot of participation in your schedule: you tell us which days you want to work and we plan the hours; 
• Performed well in your first year? GVB intents to give you a permanent contract after that; 
• Holiday payment, a good pension scheme and 25 days off per year with full-time employment; 
• GVB company clothing.
